Múltunkból táplálkozó jövőnk
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus + application, called „Our future is based on the value of our past” took place in Portugal, Germany and Italy between September of 2014 and March of 2015. The sender is Székely Mihály Szakképző Iskola, Kollégium és Általános Iskola, which have had many successful Leonardo Mobility applications every year since 2010. The students who have completed the vocational programs (that is mentioned in the application) of Germany, Portugal and Italy, during their stay there acquired up-to-date vocational knowledge by studying the values of the past of the given nation. We gave chances to participate in these practices abroad to students in catering, management, IT and hairdressing, for these sections have the biggest past in our school. The German host institution, F+U Sachsen gGmbH ensured places in their 4 week vocational programme for 6 catering-, and 2 cook students from the 14th of September of 2014 till the 11th of October. The students completed their programmes in pairs, working at noted places of Chemnitz, such as the Ratz Keller in the city center, or the Wasserschloss Hotel of Klaffenbachi. The cook students spent their programmes in the restaurants of the local chambers of industry. From 19th November 2014 till 10th December, 4 cooks-, and 4 catering students were able to spend their vocational programmes in Italy, in the kitchen and restaurant of the technical college of the town of Serramazzoni. The Italian partner institution is placed in the heart of Emilia-Romagnia, which is famous for its traditions of gastronomy. Our team travelling out to Portugal was made up of 2 hairdresser-, 2 management-, 2 IT- and 4 catering students. Our Portuguese partner business is Associacao Intercultural Amigos da Mobilidade, which specializes in vocational programmes in Lifelong Learning and Erasmus + programmes. We wrote the work programs along with our partners taking into account of the previously determined training requirements. The program fit in with our school’s local curriculum and the Pedagogic Program as well. We took into consideration the different abilities and motivations of the students, and made sure to offer many diverse activities that could match their personalities. The participants of this project are mainly from underprivileged towns. We thought by giving them a place in a programme of abroad, it could improve their chances, for their family background don’t allow them getting knowledge of another nation’s culture, in far away countries. The vocational goal of this project was to help our students get familiar with the gastronomy and traditions of the host country, and to get a look inside the supplier sector to see how it works, to introduce them to its specialities. Other goals of ours were to help the students to put their theoretical knowledge that they picked up in our school, to practice in an English or German speaking place. The teachers travelling with our 3 groups of students, along with mentoring them, got several vocational experiences, which we will surely adapt while making our future curriculums. Getting to know teamwork, the development of self-determination and responsibility, the work of high standard; these are some of the things we can refer to as the result of the programme. It was proved again, that there is a huge need of opportunities like this, since not only the foreign language and social abilities of the students’ grew, but their vocational capabilities as well. Taking our successes into account, one of the future goals of our institution is to give chances to as many of our students as possible, to let them spend their vocational programmes abroad, working together with our partner institutions.
