Multicultural Youth Percussion Assembly

ContextEurope is facing a crisis that has affected youth with unprecedented levels of unemployment. In this context, the main obstacles for young people are represented by: 1) the low potential to increase their skills; 2) lack of initiative; and 3) lack of inlcusion and tolerance from some part of societyProject IdeaWe develop a youth exchange in Barcelona with the aim of creating a percussion ensemble able to play traditional rhythms from each of the countries. To achieve this goal the participants will face cultural differences, and learning rhythms that occur in such formations. To close the musical activities of the project will be held a public concert in which you can appreciate the newly acquired skills.GoalsA. Active participation-Most active and conscious young people-Euro Connection at all levels (youth, workers, association, etc.)-Put The foundation for future national and EU initiatives (multinational assembly)-Self-EsteemB. Mutual understanding between young-Tolerance With diversity-Integration, especially in the inclusion of people with fewer opportunitiesC. Technical Skills- Musical Knowledge- Techniques of group work- Social SkillsNumber and profile of participantsIn the main activitie we will work with 36 young people (18 with fewer opportunities). Each organization will participate with 5 young plus 1 group leader. Youth must be: over 18 years old, able to communicate in English, active in some way (especially with regard to youth initiatives), predisposed to hone their skills and responsible.5. Description of activities1) To promote relationships between participants using music as a means of communication, integration, tolerance, etc .;2) Improving knowledge and skills for group work;3) To teach participants how to play basic rhythms;4) Learning to play traditional rhythms in sectional groups;5) Create a percussion ensemble with all participants and do a live performance.6. Methodology used to carry out the projectMethods for personal development:-in myPath work with: technical equipment for training, musical instruments, equipment and tools used for recording, paints, cameras, etc.Methods for active participation:-in myPath will organize activities and group dynamics, personal appearances, international night, group dances, concerts, group games, specific tasks of all kinds, dialogues, discussions and reflections.7. Expected resultsIn myPath we will improve the knowledge and skills of young people on issues related technical and artistic creativity, organization, coordination, management and integration. Our aim is to help young people improve their teamwork skills, considering the importance of participating in international projects. Our desire is to get participants to organize similar initiatives in the future. The concrete results of the project are: tutorial traditional rhythms of each country; posters; filming live public concert; etc.8. ImpactIn the short term the proposed activities will be useful for the formation of a group of more active, aware, prepared, sensitive and interconnected youth. Our aim is to help young people in their educational process, not only by teaching how to play percussion instruments, but also helping them to work together. In the medium term we expect to perform concerts with the ensemble in the countries of the partner organizations. Finally the myPath project will help create the foundation for future social youth initiatives at European level.
