Muévete en Europa hacia la inserción laboral
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school Cosme Garcia Secondary School has in its strategic guidelines as an aim the necessity of improving the connections with other organizations and institutions as well as enhancing the mobility of students and teachers. To develop these goals we applied and got the Erasmus Letter in 2007. Due to these objectives along with the economical crisis and the opportunity of the Erasmus+ programme for the Vocational Studies, we had the idea of developing the KA102 project called “Move in Europe towards the working field.” The development of the project has been carried out for two years, since June 2014 to June 2016. The most important part of the Project is based on the accomplishment of the period of Practice Module that is compulsory, that is included in the curricular programme for the students enrolled in Medium Grade of the second year starting in mid-March or the beginning of April. This period of practice were done in Portugal in two parts in 2015 and 2016. The main objectives for us to get involved in this type of mobility programmes was mainly because we wanted to give our students of Vocational School the possibility of increasing their formal and non-formal knowledge: working in a factory with their speciality, developing their practical and theoretical knowledge that were obtained at school but working in another country to learn how to adapt the cultural differences. Learning how to cope with these barriers thanks to the existent academic module included in the academical curriculum. Through the eTiwwing online website, we contacted our Portuguese partner: Escola Secundária de Caldas das Taipas Escola Secundária de Caldas das Taipas. This Portuguese school was very similar to ours according to the size, educational curriculum and subjects that are taught. The practice period in business has been carried out in the north of Portugal: Guimaraes, Caldas das Taipas and Braga. Some of our enterprises involved in our project already collaborated with our Portuguese partner and others have been new contacts that have offered their help to collaborate with our project and for future practice period for both schools, The Portuguese one and ours. In September 2014 this European Project was first offered to all our students of the second year of Medium Degree of the 6 specialities that are taught in our school: • We had a conference at school with all the students and the collaboration of the teachers of Vocational school. • Those students who were interested had to fill in a form to participate in the selection process. The form also included apart from their personal information, a motivation letter stating the reasons why they wanted to participate in this European project. Later, we interviewed those students who were interested in participating, and we valued different aspects that we numbered. In the first part, 12 students participated in the mobility and in the second part 11 students. The activities carried out by our students were designed by both, us and the Portuguese enterprises, adapting the knowledge that our students had to do and the working timetables. In each phase, the students had to develop their work for 60 days. The part of the project that was developed for the mobility of 3 teachers of Vocational School was realized as a modification in 2016. This idea arose because of a previous collaboration that our school started in 2014 in a European project KA101 with the institution Werk-Statt-Schule e.V., when we hosted their students. Since we had a good relationship since 2014, we had the possibility that our German partner could host in our job shadowing. Our mobility consisted in knowing the different educative models that coexist in Germany. To develop this task, we visited three institutions of different level and educative systems. They were in Hanover:BBS Neustadt am Rübenberge, Werk-statt-Schule y BBS ME Otto-Brenner-Schule.After our visit, we contacted with several enterprises to start the preparation of a new Erasmus+ project where several students will do their Working Training Vocational in Hannover. We visited the enterprises Hänsel processing GMBH and VSM Vereinigte Schmirgel-und. The work of our partners has been vital to obtain these excellent results that have overcome our expectations, designing new projects in common. All the students that have enjoyed the Erasmus+ project have agreed that this is a wonderful experience, because they have broken their prejudices of nationality, and they have also enhanced the possibility of looking for a job overseas. All these results have been reported by themselves to other students in different conferences, as well as in mass media. Therefore, our new students are already thinking about the possibility of doing their Training Pratice from their first year overseas. This gives our institution an added value when new students have to choose a school for their future Vocational school.
