Master of Science in European Forestry (MSc EF) is a two-year interdisciplinary programme that provides academic education in the field of sustainable resource management with special emphasis of bio-economy. MSc EF offers a new approach to the markets in forestry and nature management and it connects the increasing number of forest related issues with European dimension at international as well as national levels. The objective of the MSc EF programme is to educate professionals who have thorough understanding in sustainable forest bio-economy as well as in European business culture. The Curriculum is specifically designed to take into consideration the needs of potential employers and our graduates are highly appreciated by national and international agencies, governmental bodies, NGO's, research institutions and timber, paper and pulp enterprises. In MSc EF, six European top-class forestry universities collaborate intensively to offer joint study modules in addition to their existing curricula. The MSc EF Consortium consists of: University of Eastern Finland (coordinator); AgroParisTech, France; University of Freiburg, Germany; University of Lleida, Spain; University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, Austria and Transilvanian University of Brasov, Romania. In addition, Associate Partner HEIs in Brazil, Canada and China and Associate Industrial and Associate Scientific Partners contribute to the programme delivery. The first academic year includes two study Modules that have been jointly designed by the Consortium HEIs.Module 1 (12 ECTS) improves students' professional knowledge and Module 2 (18 ECTS) gives students practical perspective and familiarizes them with the working life. The elective courses (30 ECTS) give students a possibility to deepen their knowledge and skills on their desired topics. The second academic year is based on Study Module 3 (60 ECTS) where each Consortium HEI offers a package of specialized courses (30 ECTS) according to his own field of expertise. Master’s Thesis and Online Thesis Seminar (30 ECTS) are also included in Study Module 3. The European Forestry Forum including job fairs and graduating ceremony comes after this Module and brings all the students and graduates together again at the end of the second academic year. The MSc EF graduates receive a double degree i.e. two MSc degree certificates. The first one is always issued by the coordinating HEI, University of Eastern Finland, because it is the host institution for the first academic year. The other degree certificate is issued by that Consortium HEI where the student carries out his/her second academic year.
