Move Your Teacher (MYT) / Bouge ton Prof (BTP)
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project aims at training our teachers to optimally operate in culturally diverse environments by allowing them to acquire the relevant language and new technology skills. It responds to the need to learn through contacts with colleagues from different countries. One of the major strengths of the project consists in acquiring language skills (English/Dutch) through non-linguistic subjects (arts, sports, geography, etc.). Through immersion and teacher exchanges, the Erasmus+ team of Albert Camus School has gained knowledge and expertise in how to take into account cultural and linguistic diversity within a class group in order to allow for a more pupil-oriented approach. Classes taught abroad during the so-called French Weeks have made it possible to test new pedagogical practices in language training and the use of ICT (interactive boards, videoconferencing, collaborative platforms for parents, pupils and teachers…). Furthermore, the teachers involved benefited from the interdisciplinary immersion-type form of teaching that was established during the teacher mobility weeks. These teaching weeks in French, English and Dutch have also contributed to improved language skills with the participants. Aspects of the local civilisation have also been focused upon, as during the teachers’ stays abroad, authentic material was collected (cf. powerpoint posted on the platform). These real-life documents were then used in class upon the teachers’ return. To conclude, our team has worked on developing and testing innovative pedagogical methods that aim at enhancing our pupils’ motivation to learn.
