Bridges of friendship is a project between SEM (Felowship of Lutheran Youth) and a partner youth organization CVJM Gesamtverband in Deutschland / YMCA Germany. The aim of the project is to develop understanding between young people who live in different countries and promotion of friendship based on personal relationships. Being found in a common European area, these ways can lead to deeper understanding of life, culture and customs of two distinct countries.
Based on former positive experience we plan to accept two volunteers for period of 11 months to our Regional centre of SEM Orava – Liptov. Candidates interested in participation in our project are young people 18-20 years old. They are mainly young graduates of secondary schools who consider their future life and its direction.
The project activities are defined in more levels. Most of the activities are on the local level in Dolný Kubín town where the volunteers will participate in activities of local body of SEM Dolný Kubín.
On regional level the volunteers will be involved in youth work in communities of our region, in organizing of meetings, various discussions and regional youth events of SEM within the region.
The volunteers will also take part in organizing national activities such as open-air gospel festival SEMFEST2015, national sport event “Olympiada SEM” or national youth conference of SEM.
The volunteers will spend some time out of their home country and relatives, they will learn to depend on themselves and become more self-reliant and independent. Because they will have to complete certain tasks we expect them to become more responsible with positive approach to assigned tasks. The volunteers will learn to work in team as well as independently, they will learn to motivate and support other young people. At the end of the stay the participants will be given a youth pass with all the activities and skills gained during the stay in our country.
