More Europe to overcome the crisis
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Euroskepticism rises, using false arguments. Academic knowledge on the EU should be used in the public debate, but universities do not reach out and EU teaching in high school is limited. MoreEU aims at filling this gap, targeting the 5 Euro-Plus capitals where the EU and the € are under euroskeptics attack. The activities revolve around the question "What Europe is needed and how to get it?" articulated as follows: 1. What democratic government for the EU?; 2. How to federalize the Eurozone while keeping the Single Market and the EU?; 3. What kind and form of European solidarity to overcome the crisis?; 4. What budget, fiscal and borrowing powers for the EU and/or Eurozone?; 5. How to overcome the legitimacy and democratic deficit of the EU?In each capital there will be:- a European Awareness Day (EAD: a new communication format experimented by SSSUP in Italy in previous JM projects), including a public event involving a vast audience of young people (at least 500), a deliberative workshop with relevant stakeholders (at least 15 organizations);- a seminar with public officials from relevant administrations to exchange best practices on EU communication - an academic conference involving scholars from other universities and think tanks too and resulting in open access publications and in Policy Reports;- a yearly seminar/webinar for high school teachers (at least 30).An integrated communication strategy (web-page, social media, newsletter, youtube) will build on the wide networks of relationships of each partner.Among the Project deliverables a European Civic Education (ECE) course syllabus and teaching material available for teachers, and in the last year a ECE MOOC.The Network will have a major impact involving direct beneficiaries, to be used as multipliers for dissemination of deliverables to indirect beneficiaries, the Partners’ own communication tools, and relevant stake-holders and institutions to exchange best practices on EU communication-teaching
