The project “Montessoriverein Storchennest”, allowed a young volunteer from France, herself studying in Sciences of Education, to complete an 11 month long EVS, from September 1st, 2015 to July 31th, 2016, while promoting communication and education. The main focus of the Storchennest, a 20 years long experienced Montessorischool in Austria, is offering a place to be and learn for children aged 3-16. Tasks around the school community are organized in ongoing workgroups such as house, garden, communication, material, events, finance, etc. The volunteer accompanies our pupils in their learning processes, shares his/her specific skills, furthermore makes them get acquainted with the native language of the volunteer and is invited to think about topics for projects, courses or offers for the pupils and community. The project aims at creating an international atmosphere at Storchennest in order to increase intercultural learning and understanding amongst the children and youngsters and the teachers and all adult members. Having a person from another country with a different culture working with us, we are able to do this on a daily basis. We hope that the volunteer will enrich teacher and youngsters with her/his culture and also her/his professional abilities, as well as she herself/he himself will obtain a solid knowledge of our culture and way of life. The project runs from September 2015 till August 2016 and involves one volunteer from France.
