Monitoring and conservation actions in Natura 2000 site in Greece - Natura 2000 Yunanistan

The project aims at the impelmentation of monitoring and conservation measures in order to conserve NATURA 2000 sites in Greece. The project is taking action in the Gialova Lagoon, in southern Greece and in Agras-Vrita-Nisi, in northern Greece. The themes of the project is rural development and environment due to the activities are linked to development and the conservation of the protected areas. The duration of the project is for 6 months and it will be involved two volunteers from Turkey with the other local volunteers from Greece.Service will start 01.08.2010 and end 01.02.2012.The volunteer tasks are concentrated mainly in the following areas:1. Implementation of protection measures and research for chameleons 2. Raising public awareness, ecotourism activities and environmental education3. Monitoring bird population.4. Conservation, protection and support activities in the lagoon.5. Maintenance of infrastructure.6. Wetland’s management for promoting birds’ breeding success.
