SAFA association was established in 2001, in Bruxelles- Belgium, and has as a main purpose to develop and organize extra-curricular activities for children and youth, aged between 3 and 18 years, who inhabit a deprived neighborhood. Apart from this, it also works with families and invites parents to be involved in workshops developed in the framework of Parenting Support. The beneficiaries of the association are mainly families resulted from successive immigrant waves, as well as first-arrivers, whom are affected by various socio-economical difficulties. The EVS volunteer, Roxana, will assist the team of SAFA ASBL for the duration of 12 months, starting from January 2015. Her role will be to help them in their daily activities with the children and their families by being engaged and bringing a new and dynamic perspective. Apart from this, the volunteer will have the possibility to develop her own personal project during the stage. Being a foreign volunteer, through her presence, Roxana will facilitate the contact with a new country/culture and thus helping to share openness towards European values.
