This individual EVS project consisted of an activity which took place in one of the districts of Buenos Aires- Moreno (Argentina), in which took part two Spanish volunteers sent by Asociación Ser Joven.
The total project duration was of 6 months (15/09/2010-15/03/2011). Asociación Ser Joven collaborated with the host organization Asociación civil el Arca, which for many years has been running their project “Hogares” which is all about running a house in which there are around 15 children between the ages 4 and 18 who because of different reasons cannot live with their families. The children live in “El Hogar” 24 hours a day all year round.
The main activity of the volunteers was to support the development of different tasks related to “Hogares” project, as well as participating in project team meetings, which aimed at including volunteers in a team and make them familiar with children rights issues.
On the other hand, by hosting two Spanish volunteers, the host organization wanted to introduce some “fresh ideas” to the main project and other projects run by el Arca. The two spanish volunteers also helped children to have contact with young people of different cultures and places.
Irene and Tatiana have carried out workshops, accompanied children to school, lived together with children on a daily basis trying to create home and family like atmosphere in order to facilitate their personal and integral development, educating them and teaching values like mutual respect, equality, human rights, through different leisure time activities.
The grant received from the EU: 9.152,20 euro.
