The Project "School today and tomorrow" is based on the strategic plan of the gymnasium, recommendations of the National Agency for School Evaluation and expectations of teachers. The duration of the project is two years because of long lasting aims as the gymnasium strives to use the competence gained during the project both for the school curriculum and for the plan of development. The main object of the project is to strengthen the general, pedagogical and subject skills of educational staff in order to improve the quality of education and development, using IT technologies, active methods of teaching, CLIL method, encouraging the international cooperation in an effective way. Implementing these activities, motivation and creativity of the students should increase as well as citizenship, leadership and sociality. In order to achieve these aims, the eight mobilities have been planned in the Project. 37 participants will go to foreign countries either to study or to teach. The partners are schools from Germany, Italy and Turkey. The colleagues are going to watch the lessons both in Germany and Italy. While visiting these countries, participants are going to share their experiences in teaching, to compare their education systems, prevention programmes, education of sociality and nationality. Alytus Adolfas Ramanauskas – Vanagas gymnasium is going to present the development of gifted students, their research papers, the advantages and disadvantages of such classes. The teachers are going to Turkey to teach English, German and Latin. The active methods of education are going to be used and special features of teaching are going to be discussed. The Project plans to implement five courses of qualification. The teachers of gymnasiums are going to participate in the courses of English of different levels in Great Britain, where the methods of self study are going to be introduced. The teachers are going to receive the taks of the English languge for the year to develop their skills permenantly. The teachers are going to practice active methods of teaching which develop creativity both of teachers and their students in Croatia, are going to learn how to use IT during the lessons effectively in Cyprus, how to plan and implement school projects in Portugal. To make the Project useful and visits to foreign countries meaningful, all the results are going to be presented both for the community of Alytus and its region arranging a few seminars for teachers. The articles are going to be written about the resuts and published both in local media and websites.
