Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Within the project „My school in Europe” the mobilities of five teachers from Primary School no 2 called Romuald Traugutt in Józefów were carried out. During these mobilities they attended English courses, as well as methodical ones. The courses, which took place on Malta and in England, helped them improve their language skills and teaching workshop. It contributed to change in the quality of teaching in our school for better, which was our main aim. It stayed in a close correlation with the other, long-term targets – forming students’ interests and personality, preparing the most gifted pupils for further education in foreign schools, shaping a positive image of polish education in Europe and promoting tolerance, open-mindedness and respect for cultural diversity among students. The actions taken within the project served to perform all our assumptions. During the preparation period all the assumptions of the project, its schedule and the division of tasks for the project members, were discussed in detail. The information about joining the project and a short description was placed on a school’s internet website. Preparations for team members were carried out. Teachers tasks analyzed and evaluated their teaching methods, extended their knowledge about the country they visited during the course and took part in lessons for beginner learners of English language organized by school. Simultaneously, an external company responsible for the logistic organization of the trip was selected. Three teachers took part in general language courses, oriented towards a universal development of linguistic skills. Whereas English teachers took part in courses focused on gaining practical knowledge about motivating and activating techniques – e.g. the usage of project work, drama, communication and information technology in teaching. During the trip teachers not only developed their language skills and workshop, but also established contacts with other course members. The target of these actions was to exchange experiences and good practice while building a potential partnership for future projects. At the same time, all of them collected the documentation of mobilities and reported information about the course of training to their coordinator. After the training, the teachers came back to Poland to certify their participation in project in terms of European Certificate Europass Mobility. On teachers arrival to their country, the mobilities were evaluated. Team members analyzed collected material and prepared a report, presented on a meeting with a principal, to summarize the trip. During the appointment, the most important aspects of mobilities were discussed to prepare the initial projects of gained knowledge implementation to everyday life. The project members also took part in an exam to check their language skills. The last part of the project consisted of actions taken in order to widespread the aims among as big group of recipients as possible. The school organized lectures and teaching workshops, conducted by project team members. During them, all teachers interested in new teaching methods were able to get to know how to use them in practice. A series of open lessons, organized by the teachers who took part in the lectures and workshops, were arranged as well. The invitation to open lessons was sent to the local authorities, parents of our students and teachers from other schools from the area, who were ssked to take part in a survey about presented teaching methods. In the end, the project team prepared the final report given to the principle and the teaching staff. Gaining the knowledge of innovative teaching methods helped our teachers in enriching their lessons, making them more and more attractive. The interest of students and their commitment in lessons grew, leading to improvement of achieved results in education as well as in quality of school’s teaching offer. The contacts established by course members helped teachers build valuable partnerships and simplify the performance of international educational projects. They also gave our school the opportunity to build a brand on the educational market, which influenced and improve the way polish educational system is perceived abroad. The fulfillment of international projects is a chance for our students to take part in school exchanges and other actions which shape their interpersonal skills, teach them tolerance and openness to different cultures. Thanks to the project students, teachers and parents are able to know the possibilities of education and development offered by the European Union.
