Moin Europa!
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Since 2012, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts Lübeck (HWK) has been offering learning opportunities abroad for apprentices and vocational training personnel under the lead brand “Moin Europa!”. During the Erasmus+ funding period 2014-2016, 54 scholarships were given to apprentices and 5 to vocational training personnel so they could gain and/or expand their professional, intercultural and language skills through a stay abroad. These competencies have been achieved by the apprentices through an internship (two to six weeks) in a business venue abroad (and – in some cases – supplemented by attending a vocational or language school locally). Learning goals have been agreed upon before the internship and settled in a learning agreement. Both, the HWK as well as the host organization and the business venue made sure, through extensive support (continuous contact with HWK as well as with a tutor and mentor locally) and evaluation (continuous process at the project and participant level through the use of guidelines, standardized questionnaires, logbook and checklists), that the participants were able to achieve their learning goals and felt comfortable during their stay abroad. The internships have either been held as individual mobilities (partially pool project) or as group mobilities. Group mobilities have been organized to Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Great Britain, Norway and Spain. Individual mobilities have been held (among others) to Austria, Denmark and Croatia. The vocational training personnel has used the scholarships to travel to different European countries (Austria, Estonia, Great Britain and Spain), learn about new working methods and make new contacts for future projects. All participants (apprentices and vocational training personnel) have received a Europass mobility after their return to give proof of the expertise and knowledge gained. The increased qualification of the vocational training personnel and the apprentices will counteract the apparent lack of job specialists and professionals in the trade field, and will ease the internationalization of businesses and companies. Contacts with colleagues abroad will foster the professional exchange of ideas and a lifelong learning.
