Modern Shepherds 2

The youth exchange "Modern Shepherds 2" took place in Allariz, Ourense province (Spain), between the 4th and the 11th of November 2015, counting on the participation of 33 young people from 6 countries (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Malta, Croatia and Greece). The project's main mission was promoting the knowledge of nature and the rural environment amongst the participants, as well as their main problems and challenges, and the promotion of healthy and sustainable behaviours in the participants, through outdoor activities (hiking, nature observation, work with animals...) and sports (traditional games, team sports...), as well as social inclusion and active participation. A major objective of this project was to raise awareness among young people for the preservation and conservation of the natural heritage through guided tours and informal conversations with experts and local organizations, as well as making the reality of the rural world and the initiatives that can be undertaken on it known. This program of activities wanted to encourage and develop "green" skills and behaviours amongst young people. All activities were be developed based on non-formal education.
