Model European Union Sofia 2014
Start date: Aug 1, 2014,
End date: May 31, 2015
Model European Union Sofia is an attempt to replicate the successful model of the simulation of European Institutions, already taking place around EU. It is officially endorsed by B.E.T.A. e.V. and aims to immerse around 80 young people in the decision-making process within the European Institutions. It consists of a number of activities, such as a preparatory meeting and dealing with all the details concerning the simulation itself, social activities and production of policy recommendations on current issues for the youth, such as how to increase employability prospects and the mutual work between academia and business. Thus it will increase negotiation, debating, assessment and analysis skills of the participants, as well as their deeper understanding of the policy-making dynamics in EU. In the long term, the participants can thus find themselves in a more competitive position in their respective fields of expertise and become multipliers of the understanding of the bureaucratic top-down imposition of laws by EU.
