MOBILNOŚĆ UCZNIÓW - SPOSOBEM NA LEPSZY START ZAWODOWY I ŻYCIOWY
Start date: Oct 30, 2014, End date: Oct 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project entitled "Mobilność uczniów - sposobem na lepszy start zawodowy i życiowy" is going to last 2 years and enable 100 students from ZSSChiO in Jarosław to participate in a four – week traineeship (vocational practice) in the catering and service industry in the following countries: Italy (Rimini), Germany (Schkeuditz and Lipsk) and England (London) - 50 students in 2015 and 50 students in 2016. The project is also aimed at offering two traineeships (each traineeship will last 2 weeks) to 8 teachers from ZSSChiO. Thanks to the training in Italy (Rimini) and Spain (Valencia) the teachers will enrich their knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine. Places of training as well as job positions will be adjusted to the vocational training programme and participants’ needs. The project beneficiaries are: the students in their second and third Year from the following classes: catering technician, food service technician (waiter), hairdresser and the students from the second and third Year of basic vocational school - cooks and hairdressers as well as the teachers of vocational subjects in the field of gastronomy and hotel management. The majority of the students have practical vocational training at school and traineeships in catering and service industry businesses located in the county and region. Employers are open to changes and innovations, they search for creative and mobile workers. The preparation of the students resulting from the participation in traineeships in our region is not satisfactory. It results from the fact that there is a shortage of well-equipped businesses with high labour standards and high quality organization. Furthermore, the students of some professions have no traineeships at all as it is not in the curriculum. A large % of our students is passive, afraid to take action and adjust to various working conditions. The teaching staff take action in order to improve the quality of vocational training (cooperation with the employers, needs analysis of the labour market, the implementation of EU projects enabling additional vocational/ professional training for both students and teachers, the upgrading of teaching facilities). The teaching staff extend the education provision and the content of curriculum adjusting them to our students’ and labour market needs. The aim of this project is the growth of the mobility of the participants with an emphasis on gaining practical and language skills, which will enhance vocational competences and contribute to the growth of independence and autonomy, self-esteem, but essentially employability. Additional entrepreneurship education will lower the unemployment rate in the region. Before the students go abroad for the traineeship, they will receive linguistic, cultural and pedagogical preparation as well as professional training. The added value of the project will be acquiring additional (not included in the curriculum) skills by the students such as carving, nail stylization and hand care plus gaining knowledge on how to obtain funding to start up a business in Poland or a country where a particular student had vocational training. The students will be evaluated in accordance with the ECVET procedure. The trainee evaluation sheet will guarantee transparency and recognition of qualifications both in Poland and abroad. Thanks to the participation in the training abroad, our teachers will enrich their knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine and improve their practical skills. They will also have an opportunity to get to know the methods of teaching vocational subjects as well as the way the traineeship is organized in a host country. As a result, the teachers equipped with this knowledge and experience will be able to transfer best practices and solutions to the local communities and to the school. Additionally, the participation in the project will result in making modifications in the catering curriculum as far as teaching Mediterranean cuisine is concerned. All the project participants will receive Europass Mobility Certificate and other certificates confirming the completion of traineeship and trainings, which will additionally enhance their vocational competences and the mobility on the labour market. The project will help enhance the image of ZSSChiO as an educational establishment which takes care of the professional development of the students. This, in turn, will increase the attractiveness of our school offer. The project will not only have a favorable effect on the participants, but will also result in the improvement of the standards of the educational services in the region and the enhancement of the efficiency of vocational training. As a consequence, the project will have a very positive impact on the preparation of the future staff to enter the labour market and will increase their competitiveness on the labour market.
