Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Oct 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The transnational cooperation project “Mobility Opportunities and Democracy Education in Youth Work - Mode Y” is conducted by a consortium of four partner organisations: two in programme countries Germany and Poland and two in partner countries in Central Asia, Kasachstan and Tajikistan. The main objective is to contribute to the contents and quality of youth education and foster democratic development in all countries. Particular focus will be on the democratic education in the post Sowjet Republics Kasachstan and Tajikistan which are of utmost importance for the peace and stability in the Central Asian Region. These countries are still undergoing significant political processes which affect the European Union. The project will strengthen the role and profile of youth mobility and democratic education in youth work in the participating EU and partner countries. This will be done by fostering the cooperation and exchange of youth workers, NGOs and public authorities in the field of youth and education. Young people from Kasachstan and Tajikistan participating in youth exchanges in Berlin, will foster political awareness and work towards peaceful, tolerant and democratic societies in the EU and Central Asia. A network of youth organisations and public authorities in the above mentioned partner countries will be established to develop training and mobility opportunities, as well as material and tools for youth workers and young people. This will be an added value to youth work, focusing particularly on the educational and mobility needs of youth in disadvantaged geographical areas. The project activities include:- a 4-day preparation meeting organised by the applicant organisation in Berlin for representatives of all partner organisations. - a 6-day training course in Berlin for youth workers from Kasachstan, Tajikistan and Poland to acquire methodological knowledge as well as skills and competence needed to organize and facilitate international youth exchange activities which foster democracy education and active citizenship.- 4 x 12-day youth exchanges: 2 in Berlin, 1 in Kasachstan and 1 in Tajikistan to enable groups of young people from each of the participating partner countries to learn about history using city games and apps, to get to know each other and to develop new friendships.- a 6-day Partnership-Building Activity of Polish and German youth workers in Kasachstan to get to know the reality and situation of youth work in this country, to establish personal contacts with youth organisations and public authorities and to develop follow-up project proposals. The project results will be good partnerships, methods, tools and materials which respond to the educational needs of youth in the respective societies by promoting democracy education and mobility as an instrument for informal learning in youth work.
