Mobility of young adults
Start date: Oct 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

MYA – MOBILITY OF YOUNG ADULTS” The project involves 4 partners: 2 Italian partners (LOAD e LIDU), 2 European partners (Asociatia Pro Democratia- Romania and LPDH-Civitas – Portugal). The participant organizations carried out an analysis in their own countries (Italy, Portugal and Romania) from which emerged that in spite of the efforts done up until now, the awareness of being all European citizens even though each one of them comes from a different country is still not widespread among young adults. On the other side diffidence and discriminatory feelings towards national minorities, due to prejudices and platitudes, are instead still very common. The project MYA consists in a 21 days exchange in Italy, the belonging country of the leader partner, during which the young participants will have the opportunity to get to know each other and live together. During the exchange period the young adults will attend study days divided in the following modules: hospitality, study seminars regarding the participant countries, cultural tours to promote the knowledge of the cultural and artistic heritage of the host country, selection and training of peer tutors, production of the final material. The aim that this young adult’s exchange project has is to pass on the participants, by means of intercultural communication, the sense of solidarity among young European citizens. At the same time it has the objective to promote the feeling of European citizenship and democratic way of life. Furthermore the project aims to promote the common values of freedom and tolerance. In addition the project MYA plans to make young participants aware of the increase of violence among young people due to the presence of intolerance and incomprehension among different cultures. The participants will be 30 young adults, between 22 and 24 years old (10 IT, 10 PT, 10 RO) chosen among those who find themselves in a situation of economic and social disease, and have an interest in the topic of the project. In order to guarantee gender equality half of the participants will be male and the other half will be female. The participants will have the chance to develop the sense of belonging to a single huge Community, Europe, formed by many small realities, its Members, in order to become a single community enriched by the differences of the histories and the cultures of each country. The objective of the project is to promote integration through knowledge. The participants will have the opportunity to get closer to the cultures of the involved countries by means of: formative-informative seminars; meetings with local social realities; creative and recreational activities. At the end of the project the participants will produce a publication in the languages of the partner’s countries and in English, as an evidence of their experience and as a means to pass on the idea of difference as a formative richness. This publication will be object of seminars organized in the local headquarters of the involved organizations, whose aim will be to present and spread the experience. Moreover MYA project aims to promote peer education, that is education and learning among equals, considered to be an effective method and a good practice in order to promote the exchange among young adults and the sharing of different cultures. The participants to the project first of all will learn to appreciate cultural differences and perceive them as rich points useful to the personal growth and the development. Moreover they will improve their language skills because English will be the language used during the activities and among the participants. The project will use the YouthPass certification, in order to make the understanding and the identification of the abilities and qualifications easier, both inside and outside the national borders, in every subsystem of institution and formation, in the labour market, regardless of the fact that they have been acquired through education or formation or other learning experiences. Each partner will create a webpage in English and in the languages of the three involved countries containing the description of the project and the interviews with the young participants. Six months after the participants will have to write an article in English in order to describe how they could sensitize other young adults in their countries about the topics of the project, thanks to the employment of the peer education. The effect that it is expecte to obtain in the involved countries is a change of attitude towards different ethnics, facilitating the cohabitation of different people in order to promote integration and social inclusion.
