Our school is a vocational school that welcomes about 600 students; most of them are from a disadvantaged social background. For several years, some teachers have been involved in international projects such as LEONARDO and COMENIUS projects but also in regional projects offering mobilities abroad and in cultural trips (Italy, England and Ireland). The impact of such a project on the students ‘motivation (less dropout problem with the groups of students involved in such projects), the improvement in teachers/students relationships and the pedagogical interest the teachers may draw from them, leads to the growing number of projects. Yet, the number of people fluent in English in our school (apart from the five language teachers) is not so numerous. We need some extra teachers in order to continue the international projects. As a result, it was decided by the school administration to ask for two mobilities of teachers. Two teachers have been selected, one from the general curriculum in history and literature, and the other teacher from the vocational sector in visual arts. These teachers are already involved in various projects and they tried to improve by themselves their linguistic level in English by attending the school COMENIUS assistant‘s English lessons. We are willing to organize linguistic mobilities for these two teachers in the United Kingdom in immersion with an English teacher. To do so we have asked the help of an intermediary organism: NACEL to offer us a solution to accommodate them and to have a private English teacher. The organization of the curriculum consists in being accommodated in the teacher’s family during three weeks for one teacher and two weeks for the other (family constraints), with 25 hours lessons a week. These teachers are ready to organize this period of mobility during their summer holidays. Along with the increase of the two teachers ‘linguistic skills, the school is expecting from this project a more efficient management and a multiplication of European projects in the future. Indeed European projects are a positive way to disseminate the school’s actions and dynamism.
