Mobilité européenne en hôtellerie restauration
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project of mobility at the vocational and technical high school Montaleau consists in giving opportunities to pupils who are volunteers in the English European department of the high school to do their last four weeks internship in catering and hospitality abroad. This mobility project also fits to the high school project which wants to be at an European and international level of education. The main goal is to answer the objectives of the hospitality technology exam, the technological baccalauréat, with the European distinction. That is to say, to fulfill a hospitality internship abroad (in hotel and restaurant reception and catering) while practicing a foreign language, here English, but also to open your mind on another culture. The Montaleau high school project has enlisted 18 volunteered pupils who have different English speaking level, from varied origins for 24 months. The participants were placed by two in England, Germany and Belgium. The teaching staff composed from teachers from the professional and academic departments was volunteer and involved in the mobility project. Indeed, they have worked together, cooperated and shared their skills to bring up the project. The training places were chosen and selected by the teaching staff and the chosen establishment has completed the professional training of the high school. The hotel and restaurant partners have provided a head trainer who has welcomed the agreements on the participants' tasks to do. Abroad, the partnership is very important as the partners will be responsible for the trainees' accommodation and monitoring. Beforehand, the visit of the partner's establishment (when the mobility was possible), meetings with the participants and their family have allowed the teaching staff to prepare the mobility and to establish a communication between the different parties committed but also to answer any questions on the mobility abroad and to point out the objectives of the project. A regular communication between the committed parties favors the participants to adapt and integrate the foreign team easily. Communicating regularly was definitely a quality guarantee for the participants' successful mobility. It sets the tone of the mobility project and strengthens the partnership. Teachers have visited the participants they were in charge. They have informed and helped the participants and his or her family to prepare and deal with the mobility official papers, transport...sometimes the teachers in charge had to fix the problems faced by the participants/learners. Indeed, the teachers encouraged the participants to visit the area they were staying. During their visit, the teachers filled in the evaluation grids with the trainers who supervised the participants/learners/trainees. Through the evaluation grids, the trainees' skills and aims could be evaluated and adapted if needed. These grids were necessary for the participants as they are compulsory for their training session book to hand back at the end of their 3rd high school year. The participants had the opportunity to improve their foreign language skills, to open their mind on another culture, to discover another hospitality knowledge but most of all to be independent. These skills are definitely assets for their further studies and to impose themselves in the catering and hospitality sector. Furthermore, the participants got an European certificate called "Europass" which shows their experience and skills. This project has highlighted our hospitality and catering high school programme and the English European section. Then, the aim is to have more participants to Erasmus+mobility project to fulfill our students’ training. About the teachers ‘mobility, it has allowed us to be more knowledgeable on the Erasmus+ programme. The pilot of the project does not have any extra hours given on his/her timetable, So, the volunteers of the project have to be enhanced. The teachers got rewarding exchanges at the cultural level and educational level, it galvanized the technical department of the hospitality and catering high school.
