Mobilité d'élèves en section professionnelle stage en entreprise à l'étranger
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school is a secondary and technological school with a vocational section. Since 2005-2006 the teaching staff of this section has been involved in the mobility program which were largely developed within the school. Two successful applications for LEONARDO grants, in 2009 and 2011, encouraged the development of mobility in the "sections de baccalauréat professionnel". Hence, this project is part of a long-term framework and objective. Our approach is based on the idea that the practices should be consistent throughout the school so that the bad image of the "section baccalauréat professionnel" may be reduced. It is also important to make the recruitment durable to improve the development of the tertiary sector sections. Finally, the experience acquired through the former mobility programs shows that the international opening constitutes a vehicle for tolerance, training and occupational integration. Our project concerns a group of 8 students enrolled in the "sections baccalauréat professionnel" supervised by a team of language teachers and English non linguistic disciplines. The mobility project consists in a 4-week period of internship in a company based in England, during the second year of their training. The activities are articulated around several key steps : Before the internship, the teaching staff, supported by the administration, selects and then prepares the applicants, supported by the duly informed families. At the same time, the intermediary institution, the families and the host companies come into play. Updated information are given on either side through the more suitable channel according to the interlocutors. So that our students will be well prepared and the host companies and families well selected and informed. The required official documents of each partner are produced as well as the files necessary for the students. During the internship, the former tasks having carefully been performed, the students become the main actors while remaining under the care of the local companies and host families. At this point, our role consists in a solid support, both psychologically and at an organizational level. The constant communication between the different actors strengthens the climate of trust and the working atmosphere. After the internship, the participants work on the valildation of their experience of mobility, while keeping in touch with the companies and host families. The teaching staff, supported and overseen by the administration, helps the group and checks that the European Agency and the Region obtains the required information in due time. The teachers also remind the students, in the short and medium term, that they have to share their experience within and outside the school by oral, audio-visual and written media. The financed European project is accessible through the EUROPRO files used as teaching materials in the language courses and through the results reported both on the website and through posters displayed in the school. An international work experience has a strong impact on the participants both at the personal and professional levels. As soon as they come back home, the students show an increased confidence and autonomy. In the mid and long term, this project will benefit the students by providing them with better work opportunities and wider geographical perspectives. The project will also have an impact at the level of the school, through a better visibility of its international actions thanks to coverage in the regional newspapers articles. This action will contribute to the diffusion of the European Erasmus + program and its image as a key unifying element for international initiatives within the UE.
