Start date: Nov 7, 2016, End date: Nov 6, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project “European Mobilities concerning vocational training”, -which Economic College “PartenieCosma” Oradea acceses- has at the base of it the awareness of the idea of lifelong learning, training and more than that, the idea of the necessity of deepening theoretical knowledge through practical instruction. On the other hand, the project team acknowledges the importance of developing the European dimension of education by accessing this kind of projects whose main beneficiaries are the students of our school. Thus, this project becomes another tool in the hands of our school teachers to support students so that they can find other ways of responding to the challenges of contemporary world. Moreover, the idea of the project was brought to life in the context of the lack of proper space for vocational training. The building that is going to house such a space is still under construction. In this context, by the means of the project “European Mobilities concerning vocational training” we propose to offer our students a budget of extra time for vocational training in countries from Europe, countries that have a long history in tourism and gastronomy. In this way students are going to acquire new skills and abilities to their professional profile in line with the demands of European labour market. The project is taking place throughout the course of two school years: 2016/2017, 2017/2018. The project is addressed to a number of 35 students of Xth form of our school, level of qualification 3, Tourism and Food specialization. The students are going to be male and female teenagers of 16-17 years old, coming both from the town of Oradea and from the countryside: 40% of our students are from the villages of Bihor county, but also Sălaj and Satu-Mare. These students are going to benefit from three weeks of vocational trining at economic agents in Europe Union countries, following this timeline: Flux no 1: France 29th of May – 18th of June 2017 Flux no 2: England 5th of June – 27th of June 2017 Flux no 3: Spain 28th of August – 19th of September 2017 Flux no 4: Italy 2nd of July – 24th of July 2018 Flux no 5: Portugal 20th of August – 11th of September 2018 The seven students of each flux are going to be accompanied by one teacher. The general objective of the project is improving the professional competences of our Xth form students (16-17 years old), 3rd level of qualification Tourism and Food specialization. The specific objects of the project are:• Upgrading their knowledge related to Public Food/Alimentation• Improvement of students skills in line with the new requests and good European practices• Students awareness of the demands of European Union• Acquiring skills/abilities/competences that exceed the national curriculum• Understanding the culture of the host country and especially its gastronomical culture• Consolidation of self confidence, of working in teams• Improvement of communication in a foreign language• Development of the consciousness of self educationAll these objectives will be achieved through such activities like:• Instructing, getting familiar with the new environement – the kitchen, all equipment that is going to be used, the content of the menu, processing raw material, organoleptic examination of mass catering, measuring raw material, obtaining meals with low/high degree of difficulty, operations for the conservation of raw materials, knowledge of the amount of nutrients and energy of preparations/food, cooking dishes according to specific technological processes, seasoning, plating different types of dishes as aesthetic as possible, presentation of serving systems, traditional recipies, setting up a menu for different kinds of events. As far as the implementation methodology is concerned, the project team will make best use of the time and human resources. At the same time, the project team will conduct responsibly each phase of the project, beginning with the selection of participants up to writing the final report – as it has been mentioned in the application form.As far as the results are concerned, they are obvious both on the students that take part in the project and on the teachers (members of the project team, accompanying teacher, speciality teachers) and on the curriculum as well.
