Mobilität ohne Grenzen - Berufsbezogen, interkulturell, lernzielorientiert
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The background of the project „mobility without borders – vocational, intercultural, learning-goal-orientated" (Mo-Bil) is to involve our vocational school in European exchanges activities. Trainees, students and staff are asked to participate and shape an increasingly international society and world of work in a professional, intercultural and learning-goal-oriented approach. Improvement of key qualifications so called soft skills such as intercultural competence and the willingness to lifelong learning are important requirements for our students’ and trainees’ professional future life. There is a lack of financial support for qualifying vocational or foreign language experiences as a many trainees and students suffer from socio-economic difficulties caused by the regions decline in jobs. This project supports vocational international qualification measures as means of prevention against (youth)unemployment. The acquired skills and learning outcomes will be recorded in personalized Europass certificates which improve the learners’ chances on the labor market. The participation of vocational school staff as well as staff of cooperating companies in vocational education is an important addition to this project. They explore the handling of standards for vocational education in our partner schools in Norway, Finland, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the Netherlands with special regards to EQF and ECVET. In that manner school development can contribute to more attractive and comparable vocational qualifications. During the entire project term of two years a total amount of 80 participants will use mobilities. The main number of mobilities is represented by 60 students of vocational commercial education. A total of 20 mobilities are allotted to vocational staff including one teaching assignment in our Norwegian partner school. The vocational staff consists of teachers in the vocational education as well as trainers responsible for vocational education in German companies. The applied learning agreements for students and trainees relate to intercultural competences, foreign language skills and international vocational knowledge. Furthermore, the staff’s mobility agreements aim for identification, description and evaluation of learning outcomes. Therefore, the project shall offer a frame for testing ECVET elements in cooperation with our partner schools. The main activities of the sent staff are discovering each vocational system, exchanging and reflecting educational content and aims of the other vocational system. Moreover, it is obligatory for every participant to show commitment in preparatory meetings, in learning processes and mediating between cultures while being abroad. The interns of our school will travel in small groups to our partner schools. The work experiences of each group will be scheduled at separate times during the term. The projects’ procedure includes the following four phases: informing, preparing, conducting and evaluating. Measurements of quality assurance are going to be carried out as a continuing procedure over the whole two year period. All participants will receive an EUROPASS mobility which documents acquired learning outcomes. Hence, the value of the acquired competences becomes transparent and comprehensible. We are planning to agree on a MoU or a contract of school partnership, if not already existent, and ECVET learning agreements with our partner schools. Europe can be experienced by all beneficiaries of our vocational college as a result of this project. Thus, students and trainees will change their attitude towards the culture and the world of work in other European countries, additionally; they will improve their language competence. In general, they will be better prepared for competing on the labor market. The teaching staff will benefit from different ideas of teaching, organizational structures as well as developments in the vocational school system. The vocational trainers will have the chance to get direct insight in other European vocational systems and they can benefit from best-practice solutions. Moreover, the staff’s observations could improve the collaboration between our vocational school and the cooperating companies of the Duisburg area.
