Mobilität der EU-Bürger – eine Wachstumschance für Europa

The courses to be taught at the European University Viadrina within the Jean Monnet Module will deal with the current framework of Europeanization in the area of free movement of EU citizens. Because of the key role played by the EU regulation on migration and the importance of mobility in border regions and , he topic will be dealt with both from the regional perspective of German-Polish migration movements, and the European perspective, i.e. the mobility of EU citizen more in general.In this respect, an emphasis will be placed on the role of EU policies and legal framework (national laws and EU directives) in the areas of mobility. as well as on the socio-economic conditions for migration, such as demographic challenges.In order to deal with these complex issues within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module three courses for students will be taught between 2015 and 2018. The courses will host a round table with decision makers from Poland and Germany and with citizens of Frankfurt (Oder) and Slubice at the Polish side of the river Oder. The lecturer will organize and moderate the events. Students are publish their essays within a dedicated e-book on the issue “freedom of movement in Europe”. A wider access to the seminar as well as a wider European dimension will be guaranteed by webinars with experts and students from other EU countries.
