Mobilisierung von Lehrkräften zum Einsatz in internationalen Vorbereitungsklassen und zum Ausbau des selbstgesteuerten Lernens
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

As our school has been chosen to function as a key educational centre for refugee children, it will face great challenges in the near future. Starting in February 2016, we will teach 100 refugee children divided into six to eight different classes even though we do not know anything about their age yet. The long-term intent is to prepare the children to attend regular lessons with our other students. This will involve adapting our usual teaching to the fact that we will accept and integrate theses refugee children into our regular classes. It has already been our ambition to develop our students' skills in independent and autonomous learning as well as placing a focus on the individual development of every student. This is a task in accordance with a recommendation given recently by an external inspection of our work. The "Dalton concept" is a way of enhancing individual learning and after thoroughly examining this concept in the different boards and committees at our school we will decide how to apply it to our school. Accepting refugee children means that concepts like the one mentioned above will play an increasingly important role and thus our determination to further advance in these projects has become stronger. We have looked at different concepts on the national level so far and educated the staff and now we have widened our view to our partner countries. We will visit a "Dalton School" in the Netherlands to learn of its concept and we will further educate ourselves in the fields of teaching refugee children and individual learning in heterogeneous groups of learners.
