Mobilisierung des Personals zur Motivation und Belebung zur Internationalisierung von LehrerInnen und SchülerInnen
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Mobilisation of teachers in order to motivate and enliven the internationalisation of both teachers and pupils: The European partnership projects of our school, the Albert-Schweitzer-Schule in Alsfeld, seem to lose more and more of their impact: students and teachers alike are less interested in taking over responsibilities for them. This endangers some of the projects, which is especially grave since we might not find new project partners due to our less-than-desirable location as far as demographics and the perception of young people from abroad might be concerned. In order to enliven the wonderful projects already instated, which help develop the participating students' personal competence as well as their foreign language competence, we therefore need to motivate the student body and the staff. To achieve this goal, we want to enable our language teachers to include the latest, most motivating teaching methods and to especially also use new technologies. That is why a pilot scheme entails the enrichment of the long-standing partnership with New Mills School in New Mills by using the platform eTwinning. This feat is going to be attempted by a teacher who will take over the partnership coordination this year and who is willing to test eTwinning for motivation, sustainablility and practicability for our school partnership's demands. That is why we are planning for her to attend an advanced language and methodology teacher training course which is also going to focus on further implementing the Smartboard technology our school is fully equipped with. It will motivate her, enable her to coordinate the start of the pilot scheme and help her convey new motivating ideas and methods to her colleagues. After evaluating the success both of the chosen ALM training and the use of the platform eTwinning, the promising project components will be implemented into the curriculum of the English department and the overall language methods curriculum and the other European partnership programmes. The improved language teaching is intended to motivate the students and to empower them to take on responsibilities within the European partnership projects. The staff are also supposed to be newly motivated by the success of the well-managable methods and techinques as well as by the students' motivation. Therefore, more teachers should become motivated to actively participate in the projects. This will result in a positive work environment and will disburden the few teachers who most actively oversee and realize the partnership projects up to now. Our long-term goals furthermore include cooperating on projects which provide our students with authentc communication using suitable Internet platforms. These projects, however, can then be included into bilingual modules of other subjects, as well, introducing CLIL to our teachers, students and parents.
