Mobilisierung des Personals zur Einführung des Bilingualen Unterrichts zur Internationalisierung
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

An open Europe requires mobile people with a modern education. At our school we provide the basis for a linked-up European communication with a language concept from our school programme. To this belong "Early-English" starting from first form, "profile course London" for 6th form as well as the planned bilingual teaching-idea for 5th and 6th form. We see the ability of our school to serve as a model for the educational landscape in Berlin. We want to implement this programme holistically in the school council. This includes symposiums, exchange of experience and proposals from third parties. To look at the concept in a more complex way, a particular emphasis lies on the integration of more teachers that don't teach the English language. The professional development of teachers from different departments forms another step towards an active execution of our school programme. The four teachers who participate in the advanced training in England and Ireland are expected to guide and motivate other colleagues to enlargement the schoolprogramme. The possibilities of an European educational development is supposed to be a permanent feature at our school and is hoped to have a positive impact on other schools in Berlin. We understand our programme to be a contribution of a lifelong education as well as a part of an open and intercultural Europe with diverse Chances for each student. In the two-week training in England and Ireland, which take place in the summer break 2015, the teachers expects a wide range of content for language acquisition, for an acquisition of new expertise in the handling of New Media and contains the possibility of an exchange with colleagues from all over Europe. Alongside creative friendships it will offer the opportunity to create the first steps of a later to be strengthened network, which will function as a basis for a collectively education for the students. At first the communication will happen via eTwinning and will continue in the Social Networks. We take the role as multipliers for our teachers very seriously and see it as one of the most important results of the training in Great Britain. We believe the exchange and the steadily increasing importance at our school to be a lasting norm for the development of language and language acquisition. The programme enables the usage of new teaching and studying methods together with modern communication opportunities (e.g. eTwinning, Social Networks) in foreign language acquisition with positive influences on other school subjects. It lastingly and positively affects the individual language acquisition in English (motivation, active language skills, ready-to-use knowledge), which provides communicational advantages in a foreign language for the children who enter 7th form. Thereby we support the European educational guidelines. The profile course in form 5&6 is supposed to be held bilingual and we hope that teachers who took part in the CLIL-course in Oxford will motivate other colleagues to organise their lessons bilingual as well. The 4 teachers taking part in the Oxford-Programme are motivated teachers and teach in all forms of our school, which ensures a wide diversity on all classes from “Early-English” to the transfer to secondary school. A portfolio with the results of the professional development will be made after the courses and will be published in the school committees as well as on the homepage of the school.
