Młodzi w Europie!
Start date: Dec 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Poland’s economic development requires well qualified workers, who will be practically prepared to carry out the work. A characteristic feature of the Polish education system is an advantage of formal, theoretical education. Whereas a significant role in the life of young people should be played by complementary informal and nonformal education, which is characterised by a higher degree of detail and allows for gaining practical skills. Youth from vocational and secondary technical schools is one of the disadvantaged groups on the market, which in connection with a small professional experience and lack of funds for individual education puts them in a very disadvantageous situation. Education programmes include too small a number of practical classes, and their scope is often technologically outdated. In this situation, participation in a training placement is an answer to professional needs of young students. The project shall include carrying out two week long training placements in Germany for 100 Polish students attending vocational construction schools (bricklayer, roofer, electrician, plumber, fitter, etc.) and hairdressers. Within the projects the students will undergo pedagogical and cultural preparation as well as they will participate in a German language course focused on the sector’s vocabulary. The goal of the project is to increase the level of key competence and skills of young people in relation to the work market and social involvement by increasing educational mobility and enhancing co-operation between the education and the employers’ needs. The project will have a positive impact on the increase of knowledge and improvement of practical skills of the Polish youth as well as the increase of mobility. It is also significant that they will advance their knowledge of German and improve the Polish-German relationships by getting to know the intercultural differences. The project, at the preparation stage, includes a language course for the placements participants, and hence encourages to learning languages. By participation in this type of project, the youth will realise how important it is to learn languages, they will enhance their communications skills, encourage others to learn languages by indicating specific profits coming from it.
