FINISHED
Zespol Szkol Zawodowych (Vocational Schools) completed the project ?Young craftsmen from Wolsztyn approaching international internship at full speed?. The aim of the project was to develop new skills and get work experience. The major focus was the apprentices? personal development, improving language skills in German and English and get to know working conditions in Germany. Apprentices acquired specialized job competencies as well as understood the importance of proficiency in foreign language to compete on European job market. Many of them travelled abroad for the first time which definitely was an important life experience. There were 28 apprentices who enrolled in the project and learnt to work as construction technician, carpenter, chef and confectioner. The first group of project participants consisted of 10 construction technicians and 4 carpenters, while the second group included 11 chefs and 3 confectioners.
During the internship construction technicians learnt how to build a cross-combined wall, Venetian wall, stretcher bond and header binding. They also built horizontal and vertical shafts and classical and Gothic arches. Additionally, they got to know how to use measurement devices. They mastered the proper use of masonry tools; they learnt proper selection of linkage depending on the type of the wall.
Carpenters did flower-shaped kindergarten boards and ?Ulrike? stools. First, a technological process of both elements was prepared, and then proceeded to execute with the right kind of wood. Carpenters learnt the proper use of modern joinery machines and CNC type numerical machines. They consolidated the abilities to read technical drawings and the proper selection of tools depending on designated task.
Chefs apprentices prepared dishes based on meats, poultry, fish, venison, seafood and vegetarian. They have learnt to do salads, casseroles and sauces and boning poultry and game. The local mentor has also paid great attention to the preparation of soups and preservation and storage of the food. Confectioners were engaged in baking bread, rolls and cakes of yeast, sponge and brittle. They prepared fruit desserts with whipped cream and multi flavour ice creams. They baked birthday cakes and pound cakes. Chefs and confectioners have learnt how to prepare meals and dishes according to the culinary arts, the use of professional techniques and modern equipment in food preparation. They saw how to attractively present prepared meals and decorate them.
The project participants gained new professional skills, improved their German language skills, learnt new technologies. Besides, they grasped local culture and many attractions of Germany and established contacts both professional and personal.
Because of the Leonardo da Vinci project and opportunity you gave us in years 2012 ? 2014, we were able to establish a branch of construction technicians in our school. Those technicians participated in ERASMUS project with a great desire, hence we have another class of construction technicians and more carpenter and chefs students (entire class). The pass rate on the apprenticeship exam in each aptitude has improved.
