Mire habitat restoration planning (Mire habitat restoration)

The main objectives of this Estonian-Latvian joint project are to strengthen the relations and knowledge exchange in cross-border mire habitat protection and management; and to co-operate in restoration planning for Kuresoo bog (Soomaa National Park Estonia) as model area of mire system highly valuable but partly damaged by drainage. Kuresoo bog (10 842 ha) is the largest compact and nearly pristine plateau bog in Estonia but approximately 50 ha of it is drained by ditches.
