Minority Languages in Major Europe is a youth exchange that will take place in Zugdidi, Georgia. Zugdidi is a very heart of Samegrelo region with its own Minor language - Mingrelian. Mingreian is one of the most ancient Minor languages which comes from Colchian language. Colchis was an ancient Georgian state kingdom and region in Western Georgia, which played an important role in the ethnic and cultural formation of the Georgian nation. According to History Kartvelians are related linguistically and culturally to the indigenous (pre-Indo-European) peoples of ancient Europe including the Etruscans, Pelasgians and Proto-Basques.The YE activity will last for 6 days. 30 participants will come together from 6 EU and Non-EU countries. The project aim is to create environment where participants will have a chance to feel cultural heritage through visiting one of the most ancient places in whole world. Despite the fact that they all speak different languages, they will find common ways of communication with one another by discovering a new breath of culture. Activities held in different areas will encourage participants to express emotions and share amaze between each other. This is one of the methods which will help them to learn more about one another. Non-formal education will be the main method used to create cultural understanding. There will be 6 evenings dedicated to the culture of the participating countries. During cultural evenings participants will have a chance to present their culture using national dancing, singing and games including presentations about the minor languages they represent. In this way participants will learn about one another’s culture in a fun & interactive way. The exchange has following objectives: Celebrating diversity – to learn about one another in order to build a community based on common values of respect, tolerance, equality/Raising intercultural awareness/Establishing a youth activity open for participants with fewer opportunities.
