Mindspeak
Start date: Jan 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Mindspeak is a youth exchange for young people. With it, we address the following problem: young people have a low capacity to create and express personal visions about relevant social issues. Therefore, the aim of our project is to increase young people's capacity to create and express personal visions about relevant social issues. Our objectives are:1. To develop critical thinking competences for 30 young people from 6 countries.2. To increase the level of understanding of different cultures and lifestyles for 30 young people from 6 countries.3. To develop competences of self-expression for 30 young people from 6 countries. The project is based on the partnership with 6 countries (Latvia, Italy, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania). In this project will take part 30 persons: 24 young people willing to develop themselves within an intercultural environment, 6 youth leaders that want to take part in an innovative non-formal method, The project lasts 9 months, a period where we will prepare, implement, and evaluate the impact of one main activity: a youth exchange realized between 12th-19th of June 2016 in Cluj-Napoca city. We will focus on the topics of: innovative educational activities and youth awareness and empowerment.During this project we will use the non-formal method of spokenword poetry. We will create a learning process where we will go through the following phases : building the group, finding a social issue that is of high interest for each participant, writing the poem about the social issue, performing the poem in front of the local community, having feedback and evaluation, establishing new purposes with the method. We will use a various series of activities such as: get to know each other and teambuilding games, trust activities, improvisation games, reflection, individual creative writing, efficient feedback, city exploration, community exploration.,outdoor activities, stage performance, interaction with local community. The activities will be facilitated by 2 trainers experienced in the method of spokenword and 2 other secondary facilitators that will contribute to the group dynamics and processes. We will have 2 support persons who will help the project coordinator in organizing the whole project. We want to have memorable outputs after this project that can be disseminate afterwards in each country and used as a model of good practice about how can we innovate non-formal education: brochures with the poems, handbooks with spokenword poetry, videos and photos. We also want to have an impact for the youth leaders, as they can use this method in their work back at home. They will have a design of an interdisciplinary method that it can inspire them to innovate even more methods from other fields. The partner organizations will have key persons prepared in one innovative method. They can bring the practice of spokenword poetry as an added value in the organization. The project will also help our organization to grow, as we will have more visibility at a local level. We will become a relevant actor in the field of non-formal education, bringing an innovative input and passion for youthwork.
