Mettre en place une classe "anglais euro" en CM1-CM2
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are two primary school teachers working with years 4 – 6. We have both been approved for the teaching of English and are, at present, in charge of English for pupils aged 9 - 11 in our school. We have been teaching for the past 4 years in the Village Primary School in Chanac (Lozère – 48). We noticed that the basic elements of oral English were not being well assimilated and carried forward from one year to the next. Given this observation we deduced that a weekly class was not sufficient, nor did it foster motivation in the pupils. We therefore decided, as from September 2014, to introduce daily practice in English. Every day lessons start with 15 minutes of activities designed to impart automatic responses and to teach or instil language functions, vocabulary and grammar In order to reinforce the skills mentioned above we plan to introduce the following at the beginning of the new school year in September 2015: To continue the daily activites already in place. To promote the use of English during lessons other than the language class. To promote the use of English as a means of communication with our pupils whenever possible without detracting from our relationship with them, nor to the detriment to their learning of other subects. To extend this daily practice of English to pupils in years 1 – 3. The project aims to improve the level of spoken and written English of pupils coming to the end of Primary School education - (level A1 of The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). It also aims to develop the pupils’ enjoyment of English which will encourage their motivation as they continue to learn English in Secondary School.
