Vocational schools which are responsible for training a certain number of students and guiding them to the labour market, are rendering service for the needs of all aspects of society nowadays. Teachers of Trabzon Technical Industrial Vocational School are responsible for the training of more than 3000 people in terms of both formal and non-formal education as well as adult training contents in different working fields. As being the most comprehensive institution of the East Blacksea Region, our school has a direct influence on the quality of sectoral activities in the region.This brings some questions to think on as well: • How are the teachers and trainers that have such a great responsibility can adapt (in terms of skills) themselves the changing conditions? • How much do they know the new technological materials related to their fields? • How much are they informed about the international vocational and technical standards? It is almost impossible to reply these questions if we consider the in-service training opportunities on the job they are given, or if we take the promoter/total trainer number into consideration. By January 2014, Trabzon and Dortmund cities became brother cities by signing a protocol including educative, cultural, artistic matters as well as good fellowship and took the decision to cooperate on these issues. The protocol, which was signed in Trabzon by representing both of the cities,created important opportunities for the vocational schools in both countries. It is only through this way, the hosting partners are chosen among the real and relevant institutions. Leopold-Hoesch Berufskolleg :This institution which gives training as high school, vocational high school and engineering types, is going to contribute to improve the knowledge and experience of the promoters in the fields of metal works, mechatronics and automation,computer aided manufacturing and scheduling systems, machine manufacture and advanced welding techniques. The hosting institution has a variety of modern facilities for the relevant vocational fields.The learning and observation activities are going to be carried out both theorically and practically in the in-service training format,and some of the activities will take place in the real firms and real manufacturing environment in the labour market. In addition to this, after the judgement of Dortmund City Council with the number 2007/8,the institution revised the entire school environment as well: • School environment is regulated according to the needs of disabled individuals • The school buildings were constructed through the perspective of energy efficiency • Energy was generated through the renewable energy systems on the roofs and similar environment • All the workshops and classes were designed and constructed through an innovative approach • The heating implementation was carried out by the cogeneration system which was obtained from the waste heat of a nearby thermal reactor. • The campus, social areas and sports fields were modernized. To cooperate with such a modern and renovated vocational school is not only an opportunity in terms of in-service training but also an important experiencefor our institution which aims at having more capability in terms of quality control and assurance. DSW21 is another one of the major contractor companies that Dortmund city municipality owns and which carry out all the municipal services.Their basic scope is distribution of energy, water and heat; transportation; harbor management; airport management;providing housing to the citizens and telecommunication services. DSW21 has a training department in its major body, and also has more training departments in its sub-companies as well. The company serves for the apprenticeship to 9 different vocational schools at the city centre and around, and afterwards gives the opportunity to employ the apprentices within its body by signing a contract after the apprenticeship. • Company profile: pdf: http://www.dsw21.de/870.html • Training courses for youngsters: http://www.startchancen.de/) This institution is going to give a free in-service training through the mutual protocol about meintenance and operation of Hibrid transportation vehicles, electricity, energy, mechanical installment in the buildings and insulation. The institution that owns 16000 apartments and enables the accomodation of 40000 people is at the same time the standard protector, operator and supervisory of the other constructive applications. If the project is supported, 30 vocational teachers will take the advantage of the opportunuties that the company offers through in-service training for 2 weeks suitable to the programme which was prepared by the company. (Letter of Intention) Moreover, the professional achievements, materials (sources) and support of documents and experts will also strenghten the multiplicative effect of the dissemination process.
