Mental Health - Trained Today to Train Tomorrow

The project is promoting empowerment as a main principle in working with persons withmental health problems, taking into account the significant differences in applyingempowerment in the different European countries. Based on their experience of threeprevious Grundtvig projects the partners from ES, PL, P, RO and the UK will create anadult education process, emphasizing the importance of empowerment for the creationof users’ associations and users’ movements. The project challenges the views on thecapacity of adults with mental health problems to live and lead their own lives, includinglearning and work. The project aims that project participants with mental healthproblems will recognize the effect of empowerment on their lives and will developcapacities to create users’ movement as modalities of expression of their rights. To this end the project will develop a coherent training plan for the training of trainers, including two training manuals and provide training for 20 persons including personswith mental health, focusing on “Leadership and Empowerment” and “How to set upusers’ associations”. Parallel to the training of trainers, another 480 persons will benefitfrom the training on the topics mentioned above in different training activities. Emphasiswill be given to a dedicated project website to inform a wider public on the importance ofempowerment and to provide information to the leaders or users how to develop users’associations.
