Mémoire pour la paix
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Memory for Peace is part of the original purpose of European integration: the maintenance of peace. The massacre in Maille was held at the end of the Second World War, which led to a paroxysm the violence of war, destruction and massacres of population. This is where rises the need for awareness that Europe is a common good and an ideal of peace for the nations which compose it. The project is also part of the strategy 2014-2020 of the European Commission: smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Education for a culture of peace and non-violent conflict resolution, are indeed the essential components of a sustainable human development. The exchange is driven by the Domaine de la Pouge in partnership with the German Association Alpha EV and la Maison du souvenir de Maillé. Its purposes are to educate for peace, participate in European integration, create intercultural encounters and act for the social inclusion of young people in difficulty. Young beneficiaries come from institutions such as the Judicial Protection of Youth and Alpha ev. They are socially excluded, uneducated and unemployed, they've committed first acts of delinquency and sometimes are near extremist movements. 14 young French and Germans have the opportunity to participate in a restoration project in France, in the martyr village of Maillé, destroyed by the SS at the end of the Second World War. They then go to Germany in the place of memory Vogelsang, an ancient school for Nazi leaders. For young people involved, the experience wil, in a long-term way, increase their knowledge and skills, insight on violence and indoctrination, develop their empathy, tolerance, improved their social behavior, reduce their delinquency, increase their citizen participation. Pilot experiment on peace education, the project will promote the culture of reconciliation.
