his project includes ?Learning the UA level of Cancer Screening Methods of Breast Cancer in Early Diagnosis?. 45 participants, from the departments of nursing and radiology of vocational health high schools, which are both project owner and partner schools, and 6 attendants took part in the project. Breast cancer is the most common cancer type seen among women throughout the world. Because breast cancer has physical, social and psychological effects not only on patients but also on their relatives and it is getting difficult to cure the disease later in the period, it is essential to take possible symptoms seen in breast into account and to see a doctor as soon as possible when faced any complaint so that the disease can be diagnosed at an early stage. When the risks of breast cancer to human life are taken into consideration, according to medical literature, it can be seen that nurses and radiology technicians who have specialized in the field of cancer screening work in the 95 % of the cancer screening centres in developed countries. The data in medical literature shows that a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in every 3 minutes in the world. In European countries, one of every ten women is diagnosed with breast cancer during her life. In terms of the situation in Turkey, breast cancer is the most common cancer type seen among women and it is indicated that the incidence of breast cancer is 24.1 % according to the statistics of Ministry of Health in 1999. It is important to pay attention to the symptoms appearing in breast in order to prevent death of breast cancer and provide patients with treatment facilities by diagnosing the patients who have caught the illness at an early stage. To increase the possibility of diagnosis at an early stage, besides self-examination of breast and clinical breast examination, mammography, and additional screening methods such as ultrasonography and magnetic resonance when necessary are also important to be used. It is essential to decrease the death rate of breast cancer and bring the proportion to those of developed countries? with the branching and employment of nurses and radiology technicians working in cancer screening centres in breast cancer. The most important reason why the screening methods used for early diagnosis of breast cancer is breast cancer is one of a few cancer types which has the potential of reducing its mortality and morbidity rate depending on the screening methods of breast cancer and the control programmes made after treatment. Furthermore, diagnosis of breast cancer at an early stage provides a more successful treatment. The project contributed to train qualified staff that had the knowledge and ability to apply the nursing applications and radiology techniques of cancer screening in early diagnosis of breast cancer at the EU level. Our students saw the EU level of the applications related to breast cancer where applied, and transfer the true, modernist and effective applications. The project provided great practice support for other health staff with its multiplier effect. The project also aimed to support lifelong learning, contributed to the creation of consciousness of European citizenship in education by providing cooperation with the EU countries, increase employment through training qualified staff in health sector, and enabled the participants to realize the differences between the education of their own country?s and the education they received in the host country comparing them and transfered the positive sides. Moreover, it was aimed with the project to improve participants? communication skills by creating a chance to have a look at the relationships of health personnel in the host country with a professional eye. The layout of the project was 3 weeks. The participants were all chosen from disadvantageous groups. The fact that 66 % of our school?s students were female provided positive discrimination. The placements were in Sweden with 15 participants between 05th Apr?l and 25th April, 2015; in Germany with 14 participants between 29th March and 18 th April , 2015; and in Spain with 15 participants between 25th march l 18 April 2015 / between 13th June and 4th July, 2015.
