MELTING THEATRE
Start date: Feb 1, 2013,

The exchange “Melting theatre” will focus on the Migration issue in its two IN-OUT declinations (immigrating and emigrating). Theatre and art will be the tools we’ll use for thinking and playing on migration. The multilateral exchange will take place in Lisbon during 7 days, between 16th and 24th of June 2013, with 4 youngsters plus their team leaders from 5 different nations: Portugal, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Nederland for a total of 26 people. The group will debate on anti discrimination issues, compare different stories and perspectives and will be able to set up together a theatrical performance starting from popular tales about “the stranger” or the “unknown” of each country, mainly related to the theme of migrants’ discrimination.Main objectives are to Promote the communication and integration between different cultures and to Promote active and European citizenship through Non-Formal Education.Through a creative writing lab the participants will come to raise a common plot that will be represented by a theatrical performance at the end of the week where all the local community will be invited to share the experience with the group and turn the exchange even more interesting. Thanks to workshops such as dance and drama, music and photography, participants will be able to use their creativity featuring ideas and views on discrimination. The different social backgrounds and cultural contexts of every country will be shared and matched to show out diverse point of view on migration, discrimination and racism against prejudice and stereotypes.Particularly interesting and significant for the social inclusion will be the attendance of young people who are daily involved into national and migration patterns.
