Melléktermékek, mint energiaforrások / Vedľajšie produkty ako zdroje energie (Biomass - renewable energy resource)
Start date: Dec 31, 2009, End date: Apr 29, 2011 PROJECT  FINISHED

The target area of the project is the southern region of the Kassa-Basin, with segmented, small settlements. This region has an excellent agricultural tradition, but the utilization of it is poor, the economical preparedness stagnates, and the region has a great gypsy population with a significant social disadvantage. By propagating the use of biomass, as a renewable energy resource, the quantity of biological waste originating from agriculture and sylviculture can be reduced effectively. Besides this, with the elimination of the external, negative effects of the fossile energy resources, the pollution emmission 013 which is basically very high in this region - can be reduced. As an additional effect of this project the significant unemployment rate of the region can be also decreased. The significant unemployment rate comes from the undereducation of the gypsy and non-gypsy employees, which can be improved only by special motivation, and in certain elements of this project we give detailed solution to this situation. The project has an effect beyond the frontier, itâ019s direct results (bilingual publications, establishing an ecotechnical exhibition and educational house open for the public) and the indirect results (investments with renewable energy, local experience, developing enterpreneur class using renewable energy, etc.) reinforce the spreading of renewable energy sources on both sides of the border. Achievements: The target area of the project is the southern region of Košice, with segmented, small settlements. This region has an excellent agricultural tradition, but its utilization is poor, the economic preparedness stagnates, and the region has a large roma population with a significant social disadvantage. By propagating the use of biomass as a renewable energy source, the quantity of biological waste originating from agriculture and forestry can be reduced effectively. Therefore the aim of the project was to create the effective utilization model of the waste biomass originating from trees and plants, in a characteristic economic, technological and demographical setting. The project also promoted environmental education for the practical adoption of sustainable development for the public.
