Project title: Improving teaching in a foreign language.Project context: Our school is a secondary school in the province of Málaga, to which over 900 students come and attend classes. This project is one of the initiatives we have started in our school to improve teaching/learning in a foreign language, satisfying the demand of society, which is aware that having a good linguistic competence in a foreign language can open up the doors to their future success in the world of work, whatever the qualifications required for a particular job are.Participants: The mobility project is going to be made by three teachers, who are going to take over logistics and present the results at our school.The teachers to be selected are especially concerned with didactic innovations and will communicate successfully in a foreign language. Activities: Attending foreign language classes with the purpose of apprehending strategies, activities and practice to be implemented here in Spain. Cooperating with host teachers in Spanish classes. Taking note of the characteristics of both the foreign language classrooms and CLIL classes, together with the average class size. Most used didactic resources and importance of ICT in teaching a foreign language and in Content and Language Integrated Learning methodology. Class Management. Starting to make contact for future joint projects or student exchanges. Becoming aware of the host school internal regulations, especially those which help an appropriate learning atmosphere. Becoming aware of how students are selected and grouped in foreign language classes: Are the classes made up by students with the same level of linguistic competence? Evaluation criteria and weight of the five macro-skills in the final mark. Teacher incentive payments for improving performance.Methodology: Watching lessons. Interviewing overseas colleagues informally. Getting information from the host institution´s website.Expected outcome and impact: The experience will be available on our school´s and Antequera Teachers Centre´s websites to make foreign language teachers aware of the necessity and obligation of improving the oral skills. To motivate our students through the ideas and the imported didactic resources.
