Mejora de competencias industriales en FP Dual a través de formación internacional
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

1. CONTEXT.Fernando III Secondary School is located in southern Spain, in the town of Martos (Jaén); it is a predominantly agricultural municipality with some agrarian factories and ancillary industries in this sector, but it is also home to a main branch of a leading automotive lighting company. The school offers a wide range of training including all Middle and High School stages together with an undergraduate training program on plastics and metal production and three higher level training cycles on software application systems, electronic maintenance and production scheduling of metal and polymer molding. These last two cycles were designed as qualified dual mode vocational training programs, standing as models in our community by being the first dual mode cycles of the industrial sector set up in Andalusia, so a high degree of integration in the labor world is expected. Our school, as an institution, has little experience in mobility schemes and a low level of international connection.2. PARTICIPANTS / ACTIVITIES.The profile and number of participants of this project will vary to better meet our needs at any particular point. An open selection process will take place to ensure that the profiles of the participants suit the programs. The project can be divided into two action lines:a) Teachers:Job shadowing ; stays abroad in companies in Papenburg (Germany) for 8 participants of different specific areas (Electronics, Computers, Plastics Industry, Technology) for a period of 7 days.b) Students:Work placement agreements with VALEO LIGHTING Romanian branch and suppliers - located in the town of Timisoara (Romania); work placements in plastic processing companies in Northern Italy and in mechanical manufacturing companies in northern Germany. Work experience periods will last 31 days and will involve 5 students from the “Metal and polymer molding” undergraduate program.3. OBJECTIVESSet objectives for this project include:a) Teachers:- Improving management skills for the dual program currently in place.- Improving teaching quality in the different areas included in the project.- Learning about BYOD methodology and assessing application in the professional fields covered.- Acquiring good practices in a range of in specific areas, such handling equipment and machinery, mechanical manufacturing processes, chemical industrial processes, etc ...- Establishing relationships with other institutions- Meeting other professionals to exchange experiences and ideas and networking for possible future collaborations.- Developing European values; contacting other cultures; learning in different sociocultural contexts...b) Students:- Improving their jcareer prospects- Improving their language skills.- Improving academic performance as school records, behavior and work will be rated when applying to any of the scholarships offered.- Improving skills and attitudes such as personal initiative, responsibility, respect for other cultures, new working methods, etc ...- Being curious about knowing other realities through firtshand experience, as well as being motivated to take part in European projects.4. METHODOLOGY.We carried out a detailed analysis of the socioeconomic context of the school and a thorough process of needs assessment, taking into consideration the connection between objectives to be achieved and activities designed for this purpose. We have also aimed at making significant and lasting impact on our school, as well as in the nearby educational and social environment.5. EXPECTED OUTCOMESFernando III Secondary School is committed to improving the management of dual vocational training and increasing the school's involvement in European projects by upgrading our teaching staff's linguistic competence and the number of contacts abroad. Experience gained during stays abroad and exposure to new teaching methodologies will result in better school performance at home.As far as students are concerned, working experience in foreign companies will certainly improve their job prospects and their communicative skills in a foreign language.6. LONG-TERM BENEFITSReaching a high degree of internationalization will enhance the school's quality as a result of exchanging experiences with foreign colleagues and getting involved in international projects. Better quality will definitely increase the chances of designing and developing new projects in the future.
