In our trinational youth exchange "Freedom of information and information wars" between Dresden, Lviv and St. Petersburg the role of media in modern societies will be highlightend. Which are the tasks of media, which power do they have, but also what are they influenced from. Discussions with experts and workshops will convey basic knowledge and examine the topic from different point of views. Each of the involved country's national news coverage of the ucranian-russian conflict as well as the german phenomenon of distrust in media in the surroundings of the political movement "Pegida" will be used as examples. The counselors will be aware of the high emotional meaning of the topics for the participants and therefore will handle the discussions with a lot of carefulness and guided by rules.The theoretical examination will be accompanied in all three exchanges by practical projects with which the participants themselves create a media product. The national groups will decide in the forefront of the exchanges which kind the media product will be depending on their resources and preferences. The participants' learning success will be result of the intense discussion of the topic, the teaching of practial knowledge in the context of the media projects and constructive debates and reflection with the others and their point of views. Furtermore this will foster intercultural compentences and mutual understanding. Follow-up-meetings and further projects between the involved organizations and participants will be strongly encouraged and can be realized with the support of the partner organizations.
