Megvalósíthatósági tanulmány az Ipoly-völgyi vasút működtetésére (Ipoly-völgyi vasút)
Start date: Jul 31, 2009, End date: Jul 30, 2010 PROJECT  FINISHED

The railway of Ipoly valley was built 100 years ago and it satisfied the transportation demands of the region across the border as well. In 1963 the Drégelypalánk-Hont railway line was deconstructed and traffic on the Ipolytarnóc-Losonc line has recently been suspended. Demand for public transport of goods and passengers gives reason for renewal of the cross-border rail transport thus a regional railway network will be created adjusted to the demands. The feasibility study intends to examine and outline the possibility of this. Achievements: The demand for the public transportation of goods and passengers provided the rationale for renewing the cross-border rail transport between Hont and Ipolytarnóc. The aim of the project was to elaborate a feasibility study that explores and presents the need for rail transport services, provides proposals for the development of technical infrastructure and possible solutions for a more economic operation. The specific objective of the project was to strengthen the economic competitiveness of the border area by improving accessibility.
