Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The primary goal of Ekpaideftiria Vassiliadis is education and the proper preparation of its students for knowledge, seen as the best asset to promote culture and values worldwide. We are part of a school which aims at constant improvement, change and diversity and applies mechanisms in order to reform and support our teachers professional development. For this reason, we submitted this plan aiming to achieve the following objectives: 1. the professional training of the educators of our school through innovative methods of teaching in order to improve the quality of the education provided and to create additional values to our educational task. 2. the collaboration with European schools with the aim of promoting and applying innovative approaches and proper practices on the instructive procedure through the eTwinning platform along with raising awareness and motivating students in topics such as cultural heritage and sustainability of the planet. 3. reinforcement of foreign language teaching and embodiment of European dimensions in teaching procedures. A teacher of our school participated in the training seminar SMILE (Schools, Museums, Internet, Learning Education, EU Courses) and two teachers traveled to Stockholm, in Bredängsskolan for job shadowing (job shadowing). The teachers were selected on the basis of their desire for further education, their willingness to implement new innovative teaching methods and act as multipliers to train their other colleagues at school. Participating teachers fully appreciated the importance of familiarity with innovative teaching indoor and outdoor techniques, enhancing their confidence in relation to the use of new teaching methods and the use of technology as well as the design and implementation of collaborative teaching methods in the future. The aforementioned approaches match perfectly the objectives set by our school, as we are confident of their success, which began immediately after the return of our teachers. Information sessions were held with the other teachers of the school, planning and organizing groups while offering an in-depth analysis based on their acquired knowledge in teaching intended to be applied until the end of the school year in order to continue in the forthcoming school years. By training our teachers to monitor and study teaching using innovative methods and practices and then implement them in our school, we believe we have greatly improved their know how to: Learn to work together in cross-curricular activities and Erasmus works with colleagues in our school as well as partner schools. Learn to use methods that will develop and enhance our students' skills regarding European and global issues. To increase their learning skills through their contact with their cultural heritage and museums in general. In a constantly developing society, we are inclined to believe that it is our obligation to pursue both personal and collective professional improvement and development of our educators with the aim of enriching and reinforcing our educational work. Enhancing self-esteem is of primary importance as students and society in general are the ultimate recipients of our educational investment.
