Meeting Point Ethics

The Grundtvig Learning Partnership "Meetingpoint Ethics" focussed on ethical questions and dilemmas in modern society and used ICT tools for organising and fostering the discussions between adult learners in Europe. The project set up a virtual platform which gave access to background information on the various questions and off ered communication possibilities. Within the partnership, learners from Germany, Austria, Italy and Lithuania discussed topics like abortion, gender, sustainable development and the relation between ethics and the labour world. The discussions were parts of courses, developed by all partners and provided in the form of "blended learning", which combines ICT based learning with face to face discussions in regular meetings. Learners appreciated this experience and valued the new European perspective in their thinking. But the project did not only succeed in changing perspectives: it proved that blended learning can also be used in ethical education. The positive experiences the partner organisations made in the course of the project led to new approaches in adult learning and enriched their educational activities. Blended learning gives better access to adult education in rural areas and hard-to-reach regions. Its introduction added value to the organisation and accessibility of adult education. Meetingpoint Ethics proved not only the usefulness of this technique but brought people together and broadened horizons.
