Meet the differences
Start date: Mar 1, 2014,

In 2014 (UN International Year of the Family and European Year for Reconciling Work and Family Life), the project “Meet the differences”, taking place in Argentina and Italy and involving 3 social organisations, aims to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the work for inclusion of socially marginalized groups (very young mothers, people with disabilities, disadvantaged children). The project will give 3 young EVS volunteers (2 Italians, 1 Argentinian - 1 of them coming from difficult backgrounds) the opportunity to live a 6-month experience abroad during which they will acquire both theoretical and practical skills in this field. With the continuous support of the staff, volunteers will learn how to implement trainings, relational support meetings, workshops and leisure time activities for people with disabilities, disadvantaged children and mothers. Thanks to the collaboration with a community radio (www.rbe.it), the volunteers will publish pictures and multimedia audio-video files on a weblog. A common event (performance, flash mob...) will take place in the same day in Paranà (Argentina) and in Pellice valley (Italy) , involving young disadvantaged children and their mothers, and people with disabilities. This event will be filmed and streamed online by using a common technology (www.ustream.tv).Therefore, this EVS project will develop the volunteers' set of technical / transversal skills which may also open new job opportunities and improve their employability in the social work field.Creativity, entrepreneurship, teamwork and sense of initiative will be continuously developed thus promoting a real and deep personal and professional growth of the volunteers. Non-formal learning, experiential learning and learning by doing will be the main methodologies used. Reciprocal approach between coordinating, sending and hosting organisations will be the basis for activities implementation, follow-up and sharing of good inclusion practices.
