Meelte mosaiik
Start date: Jan 1, 2013,

The project "Meelte mosaic" (Mosaic of Senses) is a youth initiative with the main aim to raise awareness in the society about people who have hearing or vision impairment and to empower young people with those disabilities. We will achieve our aims by visiting 10 schools in Estonia and carry out lessons among children between the ages 7-10. We will use methods of non-formal education to raise awareness among children and teachers about people with hearing and vision disabilities. One of the main aims of this project is also to raise active participation of people with vision and hearing disabilities. Disabled young people are the implementors of the project. They will plan, develop and carry out lessons to inform about their cultures and enhance awareness and communication skills in society. The long reaching aim of the youth initiative is to give participating disabled young people valuable working skills, that will hopefully improve their position in the labor market. We hope the project will produce user-friendly and educative materials, that will be used by teachers also after the project.
