Mathematics - Key of Good Neighbourhood

The project intend to use the complex approach, so that the possibilities for extracurricular training in mathematics in all three partnering schools, stimulation of the cultural, geographical and historical acquaintance with the region are used. Activities for enhancement of qualifications of high school teachers in mathematics by introduction the good practices and teaching methods are implemented. The project provides 6 – month courses to overcome the temporary deficiency of extracurricular activities in mathematics and a competition among the most gifted mathematicians from the clubs in three schools. The joint activities with the participation of young people offer leisure activities as well. A publication of students guide for schools in Bulgaria and Turkey is an attempt to motivate the regions for students exchange. Mathematics forum and publicity and visualization tools also provoke the interest of other beneficiaries for the use of projects methodology too. Achievements: The project focused on developing and strengthening good neighbour relationships between the cross-border communities, improved the contacts and possibilities for joint cross-border activities, partnerships and cooperation among students and teachers.The exchange of best practices in the instruction in mathematics were assisted with the familiarization with the two school systems, finding and removing of existing weaknesses, introduction of new innovative approaches in teaching. Through the conducted Forum under the name "Education - Key to Integration" professors and mathematics teachers from Bulgaria and Turkey had an opportunity for sharing best practices in the field of education in mathematics. A students Guide with information about universities in Turkey and Bulgaria, including mainly those teaching mathematical disciplines has been prepared and issued. The first cross – border competition in mathematics has been conducted. During the two-day competition students had the chance to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities in a competitive environment, forming the grounds of a future joint competition team in mathematics. The project has been successfully accomplished in July 2012.
