“1o Geniko Lykeio Chanion” is a secondary school with long history and rich activities on a local level. The school aims at the professional upgrading of its teaching personnel and at a European development in terms of quality and through internationalization. Within this framework and under the title “We Learn in Europe”, the school partners with the “Gymnazium, Praha 4, Na Vitezne plani1160” (Czech Republic) and the “Viesoji istaiga Kauno technologijos universiteto gimnazija” (Republic of Lithuania). Teachers of the “1o Geniko Lykeio Chanion” will take part in job shadowing and observation activities in partner schools, as well as in structured courses and seminars in distinguished European educational institutes. Throughout the planned international mobility activities, the teaching personnel of the school will acquire knowledge and skills in new teaching and learning methods and new perspectives in the management of the school unit. Moreover, they will improve their language skills in order to be able to assimilate international pedagogical innovations and inspire the rest of the personnel, as well as the pupils, so that the latter will participate in the international educational activity as well. Through the training plan they will develop innovative skills in ICT in order to strengthen their abilities in the formation and implementation of new curricula that utilize the available technology. They will acquire qualifications in order to improve the quality of their instructional work and tone up their professionalism, technically as well as inter-culturally. At the same time, they will strengthen their consciousness on duty and responsibilities. They will comprehend the methods for the development of quality in education by applying an upgraded instructional and learning system and they will understand the adaptation of tools for its continuous evaluation and self-evaluation. The contact with different European educational systems will provide stimuli for incorporating new ideas and practices and for applying them in collaborative learning through the organizing of innovative activities. The training will broaden the personal as well as the professional horizons of the teachers involved and will direct their activities towards international cooperation and contacts. These in turn will improve the overall quality of ‘life at school’: the knowledge assets, the methods and processes, the human relationships and international relationships and the educational values.
